Tara Tuesdays - Part 34

Posted on 05 November 2013

After a little too long away, the blog is back! With a complete website re-build and an Open Day to plan, the blog took a back seat during the summer months. However, in her usual organised fashion, my good friend (and fellow fabric addict) Tara has furnished us with her review of the Open Day I held in October. I'll write my own post about that (along with some thanks to the people who helped!) this month, but for now, here's Tara's review! Oh, and she has found a fabulous new blog called Winkie Flash in the Netherlands. I will follow it religiously, if only for the name.

Tara Tuesdays - Part 34 - Emma's Fabric Studio Open Day

I know I haven't written for Emma for a very long time so please forgive me if I am a little rusty, but I thought now would be a good time for me to say hello again and share the lovely time I have had at Emma's first ever Open Day!

My sewing friends Mary and Mags joined me and we made our way to Tithe Barn in Lenham where Emma was holding her Open Day. I am sure you will agree from my pictures that the location is just fantastic! The barn was stunning and was decorated beautifully with fairy lights, bunting, paper pompoms and an 8ft real Christmas tree! We were greeted by Her Majesty and she couldn't wait to get in on our pictures!

There were masses of gorgeous fabrics for us to rummage through along with cream teas, cakes and ploughman's lunches and refreshments. I got to wear my own "Tara Tuesday" name badge and couldn't resist a tache pic!

There was also a crochet corner where some lovely ladies were teaching how to crochet. I loved how the yarn was hanging up and came away with some free patterns and can't wait to start hooking up butterflies, flowers and square and round grannies! Rooster yarn was available to purchase and I was very envious of the gorgeous baskets this was displayed in!

I was delighted to see a Harris 9H sewing machine there and met it's owner Jan who talked me through how to use it, I now know where the bobbin is and will be able to use my Harris 1H sewing machine properly!

Helen from Too Nice To Slice was at the event and was selling some cupcake decorating kits which are fabulous gift ideas! I was rather taken with the Christmas decorations (it's never too early for Christmas) and took this lovely picture. Next on my to do list is to learn how to bake!

Emma and her family and friends worked extremely hard to make the day such a success and I am sure you will agree that their hard work has paid off. Every little detail was just perfect, Mags, Mary and me came away feeling really proud of our friend that has done so well for herself. She needs to hold more of these events throughout the year and get to meet all of her lovely customers in person. It is also the perfect opportunity for me to have a spend up and buy some yummy fabrics that I just MUST have and can't live without to add to my ever growing stash!
